What started as a regular house cleaning appointment turned into a mission for justice.
Jessica Maddy, a resident of UAE, after booking a cleaner, made a shocking discovery: Activists, along with seven others, got stuck in an illegal employment scheme. These eight unspecified workers were found to live and work without valid visas, their passports were seized and no legal protection.
Refusing to look into another way, Jessica stepped into – helped all eight persons to protect them from exploitation and bring their condition to light.
Now, she is taking the fight a step forward. Jessica is working to get more than DH81,000 in fines, in the hope of giving these workers a second chance in a legal and dignified life in the United Arab Emirates.
His story is a powerful reminder who sometimes starts with the right question by asking the right work – and the courage to work.
